Monarch Dunes Featured in Southland Golf MagazineWednesday, July 19, 2006San Luis Obispo County's newest golf course - Monarch Dunes Golf Club - is featured this month in Southland Golf Magazine along other favorite Central Coast Courses - Sandpiper Golf Club, Glen Annie Golf Club and Rancho San Marcos Golf Course.Monarch Dunes is described as a par-71 championship course that introduces extraordinary links-style golf to central California's scenic wine country. Surrounded by windswept dunes, coastal vistas and amber-colored hillsides, Monarch Dunes represents the handiwork of El Dorado Hills-based architect Damian V. Pascuzzo of Graves & Pascuzzo. PGA Tour professional Steve Pate also contributed to the project as a design consultant. Glen Annie Golf Club was designed by Robert Muir Graves and Damian Pascuzzo. This championship layout is set in the foothills of scenic Santa Barbara with breathtaking ocean and mountain views. A beautiful clubhouse with its award-winning architecture looks out onto this magnificent landscape that features manicured lush green fairways, a cascading lake, colorful flowers and majestic trees. Rancho San Marcos Golf Course is considered by many to be one of the premier golf experiences in Southern California. Set in the mountains 12 miles outside of downtown Santa Barbara, Rancho San Marcos spectacularly captures the natural beauty and distinctiveness of its surroundings. Built on the site of the historic Rancho San Marcos, circa 1804, this Robert Trent Jones, Jr.-designed gem gracefully saddles the natural topography meandering amid a plethora of ancient oaks, in addition to the preserved traces of 19th-century adobe structures and the rugged San Marcos Stagecoach Trail.
