SLO County Junior Golf AssociationFriday, July 29, 2005 The San Luis Obispo County Junior Golf Association offers Summer Camp Programs, Golf Skills Challenges, and Junior Golf Tournaments throughout the Summer for boys and girls ages 7 and up. Summer Camps and Golf Skills Challenges (Coed Ages 7 to 16) SLOCJGA Summer Camps include professional golf instruction and skills challenges in on course play, rules, etiquette, putting, pitching, chipping, full swing. These camps are held at the Sea Pines Golf Resort, Hunter Ranch Golf Course, Cypress Ridge Golf Course, Avila Beach Golf Resort and Dairy Creek Golf Course. A hat, daily drinks, snacks and range balls are included. Campers should bring their own golf clubs, a water bottle and sunscreen. Camp will provide clubs if needed. Youth Tournaments (Coed Ages 7 to 17) For junior golfers who seek to grow in the game, there is plenty of competitive opportunity. The San Luis Obispo County Junior Golf Association offers tournaments for players seeking tournament experience and thinking about playing golf in high school. Divisions are provided for boys ages 11-under, 13-under, 15-under and 17-under. Girls divisions include 13-under and 17-under. Points are awarded to the top 5 scores at each event (except for the youngest division which also plays only 9 holes). Visit www.slorjgolf.com for tournament dates and registration. SLOCJGA Summer Tournament entry fees are $20.00 for Members and $30.00 for Non-Members. Loren Roberts Cup The top point leaders in each youth division will represent the SLOCJGA at the Loren Roberts Cup, held annually at various California golf courses. Our top competitive members compete in Ryder-Cup style matches against neighboring junior golf associations. All costs are covered by the SLOCJGA. Gary Setting is a PGA member and has been a golf instructor since 1990. The Setting family has owned and operated Sea Pines Golf Resort since 1982 - a great family facility that includes a beautiful 9 hole golf course, food and lodging that is located near the estuary and back bay of Morro Bay.Gary Setting is a Board member and currently serving as President of the Northern Chapter PGA of Southern California and has attended PGA Tour Qualifying School and is an avid playing professional throughout California. Gary is very active in promoting golf on the Central Coast and has operated many junior golf summer camps and instructional programs for all skill levels for the last 10 years at Sea Pines Golf Resort. |
